“The voice of ‘No to Executions’ must echo in every city and street” – Political Prisoners
June 3, 2025 – Iran – As the Iranian regime escalates its use of the death penalty to suppress dissent, political prisoners across the country have launched coordinated hunger strikes in 46 prisons as part of the 71st week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign.
The campaign reports that since the start of the Iranian month of Khordad (May 21), “at least 67 prisoners, including three women, have been executed,” with “an average of seven people hanged per day.” On a single day, May 28 (7 Khordad), the regime “executed 20 prisoners with cruelty.”
Campaign organizers warn that these killings are taking place “in complete silence and in total disregard for international law.” The statement denounces the government for “weaponizing religion and using the executions to suppress public uprisings and demands for justice.”
“The regime of murder and execution is killing groups of prisoners in complete secrecy inside its black dungeons,” the statement declares.
Among the executed is Pedram Madani, hanged “on Wednesday, 7 Khordad in Ghezel Hesar Prison on charges of espionage, in total media silence.” The campaign also warns of the imminent danger facing Mohammad Amin Mahdavi-Shayesteh, sentenced to death by Judge Salavati, known among prisoners as the “judge of death.” The statement reports:
“His request for retrial has been rejected by the Supreme Court, and this imprisoned citizen is at serious risk of execution.”
Families Urged to Speak Out
The campaign issues a direct call to the families of those on death row:
“We advise families of prisoners sentenced to death to quickly publicize their cases and bring them to the attention of the Iranian people and human rights organizations.”
“Only through such public awareness can we stop and disable the regime’s machinery of killing and execution.”
They warn against intimidation tactics by state agents:
“Do not be deceived by the threats or manipulations of intelligence officers and interrogators, who seek to carry out executions in silence and trample on the right to life through state-sanctioned murder.”
Grassroots Solidarity and Nationwide Resistance
The statement expresses solidarity with the striking truck drivers, who have now entered their twelfth day of nationwide protests:
“We salute the hard-working truck drivers who have now completed the twelfth day of their strike, and we support them.”
“We urge other oppressed sectors of society to join the drivers and support them in any way possible.”
Campaign members highlight that families of the condemned have become central to this resistance movement:
“We thank the families of prisoners who for weeks have been raising the cry of ‘No to Executions’ in cities across the country and supporting this campaign.”
“We again call on the public—especially the families of death-row prisoners—to support the ‘No to Executions Tuesdays’ campaign in any way they can, and not to leave protesting and justice-seeking families alone.”
“The voice of ‘No to Executions’ must echo in every city and street, because this regime is grieving families across the country on a daily basis.”
“Our power lies in our unity and solidarity.”
