Tuesday, April 28, 2026: In a meeting attended by cross-party lawmakers from Britain's House of Lords and House of Commons, representatives of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and representatives of Iranian communities, calls were made for immediate action by the UK government to list the IRGC.
The lawmakers also called for immediate action by the UK government regarding the executions in Iran and support for the provisional government of the National Council of Resistance to establish peace.
Cross-party lawmakers from both the House of Commons and House of Lords welcomed the Prime Minister's announcement to list the IRGC in the coming weeks and called for immediate action by the UK government to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
The lawmakers also called for immediate action by the UK government regarding the executions in Iran and support for the provisional government of the National Council of Resistance to establish peace.
Cross-party lawmakers emphasized the Iranian people's firm demand for establishing a democratic republic and stated that the Iranian people absolutely do not want a return to the previous monarchical dictatorship and see the only solution as the people governing their own destiny.
Today's session in the British Parliament addressed the increase in political executions in Iran and the new directives from the head of the judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje'i, to adopt a "wartime status" by the judiciary and accelerate the issuance of death sentences. According to reports, Iranian authorities have executed 18 political prisoners since March 19, including 8 members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran and 10 protesters arrested in recent uprisings.
At this session, cross-party lawmakers from the House of Lords and House of Commons, representatives of the UK-Iran friendship associations, and representatives of the National Council of Resistance of Iran were present and spoke. The speakers emphasized that these executions are aimed at preventing future uprisings and suppressing the growing organized resistance; especially following the National Council of Resistance's announcement of forming a provisional government to transfer sovereignty to the people and establish a democratic republic based on Maryam Rajavi's 10-point plan.
They echoed Maryam Rajavi's criticism of the British government's failure to condemn these executions and supported her call for immediate action by the UK government and other European governments to halt the executions and prevent a repeat of the 1988 prison massacres.
The speakers welcomed the upcoming vote in the coming weeks to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. They, along with other speakers, urged the UK government to take the next step and engage with the provisional government announced by the National Council of Resistance of Iran to establish peace and freedom in Iran and beyond.
Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance for the transitional period, said in a video message to this session: "When Western governments do not even utter a single word in response to these daily executions, the Iranian people and political prisoners pay the price for this silence. If European governments continue their policy without recognizing the necessity of regime change in Iran, they are practically siding with religious fascism. Since 2010, we have repeatedly emphasized that the IRGC must be designated as a terrorist organization. We hope that the legal obstacles to this decision are removed as soon as possible.
We ask the European governments, especially the UK government, to:
Condition their relations with the regime on halting the execution of political prisoners and the massacre of protesters;
Prosecute the regime's leaders under universal jurisdiction for more than four decades of genocide and crimes against humanity;
and recognize the provisional government announced by the National Council of Resistance of Iran."
